72 Hour Repack 2011

Noah and I lugged in our 72-hour kits out of the garage to exchange the kids clothes and see what else could be added. Noah helped himself to a two year old granola bar from one of the backpacks while he watched me. I love a child that fends for himself. Less work for me.

I'm glad I thought to change the clothes. Noah no longer wears a 3T or needs pull-ups. Grace is no longer a 5T. Not to mention, Scott's no longer a 34 inch waist.

As you might remember, Scott had us tape together whole sets of outfits. He mocked me when I asked about the tape residue and I was correct. There was some. I am a tactile person. If my clothes are uncomfortable I CANNOT deal. This is why I don't wear belts, large heavy sweaters, long shirts that cover my butt, or big boots. I want to feel comfortable, not contorted. This is why I don't follow many fashion trends. Although, I'm doing okay on the scarf thing. It does feel like someone is choking me at times.

I have issues people...don't judge me. Cause you have some too!

Back on topic, I added some small toys for the kids. I read somewhere that they need a distraction. Noah helped pick-out some Lego's to put in his pack.

What a great thing to have. We had some once, but everything needed to be rotated out. When we rotated the water out and didn't replace it...that's when they fizzled. You've got me thinking though...(I'm loving your candidness.)

Our 72 hour kit is so dated I hate to open it. We had three kids when we put it together and now we have four, my youngest is now the age my oldest was at the time. We have lugged it around with us through 3 moves and over 3000 miles. We do have some updated 72 hour kits with just food and water but the one with clothes....I am afraid to open it and see what is inside!

Instead of taping on the clothes try putting each outfit in a plastic grocery bag and then you could put the tape around the plastic if Scott still insists upon taping.

Ha! You totally make me laugh and feel guilty at the same time.
