Grandma’s Irises

For the past week I’ve been watching the irises bloom around the neighborhood in anticipation of my own. Long story short, my uncle got some bulbs from the old house that my grandma had planted. Then at a family reunion he auctioned them off. My brother bought them and shared the bulbs. I planted and watched them grow.

This week I whispered to the dark purple bud, “I can’t wait to see what your going to look like!”

And as if in response, the next morning it had bloomed.

My grandma’s irises are growing in my backyard. And maybe some day they will grow in my granddaughters garden.

Mine were blooming when we got home. They are so pretty! I am glad yours are doing good too.

The irises look very pretty! I want some of Grandma's plants growing at my apartment. I need to get some from my dad.

Grandma gave her affinity for growing things to many of her granddaughters!

Shawnee, I saw your hanging baskets of pansies, they are so cheerful.

Roxcy, I didn't know you had some too! Do you have them planted in the front?

I love the pansies! They are just such cute flowers. Now hopefully my sweet peas will come up soon. The weather has been so crazy that they have not done much yet. Hopefully we are done getting snow in Spokane.
